From the Director’s Desk
Thanks to all of our parents, we have had an awesome beginning of the school year for the 61st time! For example, a child new to us this year had cried every day when I came to take him from his car, breaking his grandmother’s heart. The teacher explained to her that once he was in his class he was fine, I reassured her that this would pass. Then, one morning I went to get him out of his car and he was smiling at me! He jumped out of his car as if any delay would mean he would miss something. Our hearts just sang for joy!
Another example is that one of our new families lost a father this past year. The decision to enroll was a major one for this mom and separating has been very hard for both mother and child. Just the other day, this mom told me her daughter now wants to come everyday not just Monday, Wednesday and Friday! She said when they went for a check up recently her daughter told the pediatrician that “her heart doesn’t hurt as much now”.
I have absolutely the best job in the whole world witnessing the power of God’s love shared through this ministry. I am blessed every day to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are all right where God intends for us to be at this moment on our life journey. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for showing your child you trust us.
No doubt . . .God is good! All the time!!!

Classroom Updates
Toddler’s Morning Out.....This week we welcomed Fall with some beautifully colored leaves that are hung up under our “Fall” tree in our room.  Please check out the great art work!  The boys and girls are chatting it up over snack on a daily basis.  Too cute!  Ring Around the Rosie has become pretty popular this week, thank you Henry.  Another introduction this week was Play-doh.  There were some curious faces!!!  We look forward to playing more with play-doh.  Thank you again for sharing your angels with us.  We are looking forward another great week....read more.

Playgroup: We are really getting to know each other in the Playgroup! This week we used our hands to make fingerprints and handprints. We also used sponge letters to make the letter of our first name. We had music time with Mrs. Gill and everyone really enjoyed that! Creative movement with Ms. Mandy was a success, too! We read Cornelius P. Mud, Are you Ready for School? They loved it! ......read more.

Preschool
Mrs. Hudson’s Class: We started having music with Mrs. Gill on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and creative movement with Ms. Mandy on Thursdays and Fridays.  The children are having such a good time singing and dancing!  We have also done a lot of fun things in the classroom, too.  We have painted and talked about the letter “A” for apple.  We have also done some very pretty pictures using glitter.  They are all very artistic and love to color and paint..... read more.

Mrs. Parent’s Class: This week we started talking about the alphabet and the letter A.  We read Chicka Chicka ABC and other ABC books that the children really seemed to enjoy. I even saw some of them imitating me during our carpet time by pretending to read that book to some of their friends.  We did lots of A art by incorporating apples, coloring sheets with ants and alligators, and some even practiced tracing the letter A.......read more.

Pre-K
Mrs. Porter’s Class: We began our first full week working on the letter A.  We did a daily “Aa” worksheet.
We also did a unit on “All About Me”.  We read the books “From Anne to Zach”, “I Like Me”, “Froggy Goes to School, and “Life is Fun”.  Our poem was “I’m Happy to Be Me”.  We read the poem each day and on Friday they illustrated the poem for their Poetry Notebook.  We also started a booklet “All About Me”.  We will continue to work on this over the next few days. ....read more.

Mrs. Oliver’s Class: We have had a very busy week.  Our themes were “apples” and the letter “A.” We painted paper plates to look like apples, and we will use them in our Music Time next week.  On our first field trip to Dumbarton Library, Mr. Rob read us apple stories, talked about Johnny Appleseed, and we made apple puppets.  Wednesday we had an apple tasting of 4 different kinds of apples and voted on our favorites.  Red Delicious received the most votes. ..... read more.

Extended Hours: September has been a wonderful month with our new room, new children, new teachers and new routine.  The children settled into the program quickly.  We have enjoyed exploring our new room set up. Being in the preschool hall is fun and exciting. Our room is now in the “Green Room” and is easy to find because it has a bright green door frame! ... read more.
