From the Director’s Desk
I always enter the summer months thinking the days will be a bit slower, a little quieter and more laid back! What could I possibly be thinking! Just when I think I have it all under control and that the summer is going to roll by leisurely with just a few projects to get done before the upcoming Fall, I discover that God has other plans! This summer is no exception. He has families who need to be here, but where, I ask, will I put more children? Certainly, not a bad question for which to have to find an answer. Finding that answer involved the staff brainstorming ideas and then talking with the church family about those ideas. It involved praying and asking God for guidance and help. The answer is exciting and at the same time daunting knowing what has to be done to be ready now for Fall: renovating an entire unused floor, converting a long neglected storage room into a usable classroom and moving classes. It will happen and it will be awesome of that I have no doubt because it is God’s plan. I give thanks for the commitment of the preschool staff and the church family to this call, but especially for both Rick Holtz and Hank Milam who have committed to making sure that the actual work that needs to be done gets done. God is good! All the time!! - - a. amrhein
Summer Session Recaps!
Session One: First, let me thank you for all of your patience with our first week of Summer Camp! The kids helped us adjust as much as we helped them. We spent a lot of time on the playground, as the weather was lovely. When not outside, we made puppets and created our own puppet shows. The kids made treasure chests and decorated masks. It was a glitter and glue-fest! We went to the Kamp Kreatures Puppet Show and had so much fun! The kids really enjoyed the field trip. Thanks again for coming and see you soon! ~Mrs. Lawton and Mrs. Parent
Session Two: This week has been full of animals....and we don’t mean the children! We built dog houses with blocks for our stuffed puppy dogs that the kids painted. We visited the library where Mr. Robb read books about pets and gave us stickers! We even made some homemade dog biscuits and dog bowls for our favorite friends. On Friday, the kids were so excited to see their pets come to school. We had a pet parade and introduced each doggie. The dogs got a special certificate for their participation, too. Thanks especially to Pastor Dick who brought his dog up to participate as well. It has been a week full of pets, we have even had Mrs. Parent’s guinea pigs as class pets this week. Thanks again for playing with us and we will see many of you next week! ~Mrs. Lawton & Mrs. Hackenberg
Session Three: We are really cooking! This week has been full of culinary delights, all made by the kids. On Monday we made watermelon popsicles and enjoyed them on Tuesday as a refreshing treat. We cooked muffins on Tuesday and had a late morning snack on the playground. I was surprised at how many of the children finished theirs completely! They have made aprons and place mats to enjoy the cheese quesadillas and fruit salad from Wednesday. Many of them took some home for you all to enjoy, too. We hope you liked it! After cupcakes and popcorn on Friday, the kids are stuffed to the gills! Thanks again for spending your summer with us. Remember, next week we are closed for the July 4th Holiday. See you again on July 6th. ~Mrs. Lawton and Mrs. Porter
