Summer Camp 2012

Week One: June 11 - 15
Seussville!
This week we’ll jump head first into the magical land of Dr. Seuss and his powerful and silly stories!. Oh, the places we’ll go!

Week Two: June 13 – 17
“Purrfect” Pets
Pets, pets, pets!. We’ll visit the SPCA and end the week with an opportunity for our families to bring their very own pets to school for a show-n-tell.

Week Three: June 25 - 29
The Great Outdoors
This week we’ll enjoy our outdoor classroom as we get back to nature. We’ll camp out on our very own preschool playground. We’ll visit Three Lakes Nature Center this week to learn about animals in our own backyards.

Week Four: July 9 - 13
Hooray for the USA!
It’s a salute to the Red, White and Blue! At the end of the week, we’ll march in our own 4th of July parade!

Week Five: July 16 –20
Jammin’ in the Jungle
We’re becoming explorers this week. We’re heading deep in the jungle to study the exotic animals, birds, and insects that live deep in the jungle. We’ll continue our exploration at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for their Butterflies Live Exhibit.

Week Six: July 23 –27
Strike up the Band
Strike up the band with musical instrument making, singing, dancing, and marching. This week we will be visited by a member of the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra.

Week Seven: July 30-August 3
Messy Science
Put on your lab coat and join us for a week of junior science!. “Mad science” will visit us and help our young scientists out with “Mad science 101”.

Week Eight: August 6- 10
Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time in a magical far-away camp, children set out to explore the fascinating world of fairy tales.

Week Nine: August 13- 17
Fiesta
We’re traveling down to Latin America this week. We’ll make piñatas, have a Spanish lesson, and sample some yummy new foods. We’ll wrap up our week with a Summer Adventure Camp “Fiesta” of our very own.

Week Ten: August 20- 24
Things that go!
Airplanes, boats, cars, these are just a few of the things that go. We’ll make transportation crafts and end our week with a field trip to the Virginia Aviation Museum to learn about how planes fly. 

Week Eleven: August 27- 31
Pirates & Princesses
What if you could be a swashbuckling’ pirate or an enchanted princess? Well this week you can be!  Let your imaginations soar as we make neat crafts that will really put us into character. The week will end with a treasure hunt, complete with a real treasure map and buried treasure.
