Our Preschool program is truly the child’s orientation into academic learning. The Preschool program’s main focus is the alphabet and its sounds. Children learn a new letter every week, exploring each letter with art, games, songs and a weekly theme.

This program features lessons in independence. We continue with a daily routine that starts with a morning meeting, sharing the activities for the day, talking about weather, the calendar and theme for the week. The children are expected to hang up their own backpack and jackets. They remove snack from their bags and give their folders to their teachers.

Our days are spent singing songs, reading books, doing arts and crafts and having a snack in the classroom. The children also spend time once a week in the music room with Mrs. Gill, doing Move It with Mrs. Parent that includes dance and tumbling and daily playground time. Preschool classes enjoy monthly visits from the Henrico County Bookmobile with a Spring field trip to the Glen Allen Library.

The Preschool participates in our Christmas and End of the Year programs. Our children learn to say grace at snack time and lunch (should they stay for extended hours and lunch bunch). They learn Bible songs and stories as they apply to the weekly lesson and during holidays.

While most of our Preschool kids know the basics, we still take the time to reinforce rules of social situations and play.
