For your thoughts and prayers
Mrs. Allgood, her mom is recovering from open heart surgery
The family of Ruby Conner, Ruby passed away June 18. Her grandson Dustin (now a young adult) attended the Preschool. Over the years Dustin’s family has quietly and genreously shared their time and talents with the Preschool including landscaping projects and just last summer volunteering to put down the flooring in what is now Mrs.Gill’s music classroom. We saw God’s goodness in Ruby Conner and will be forever grateful He chose to make her part of our journey.
Congratulations
Mrs. Lawton, her daughter Emily graduated from high school.
Mrs. Spalding, her daughter Melissa graduated from high school.
Averie Abernathy, she’s a big sister!
Reminders
2009-10 Accounts
Statements have been mailed to all parents who have a balance due for tuition and/or extended hours. Full payment is due upon receipt unless other arrangements have been made with Mrs. Amrhein. We do not have reserve funds to carry outstanding balances after June 1 and still meet our financial obligations to the staff and vendors.

Box Tops collection is year round, so keep clippin’ all summer long. During the summer stick them in a ziploc and return them when your child starts school in September. We just received a check for $210 for our last box top turn in to which we’ll add to the $273.00 we received in the Fall for a grand total of $483 to purchase something new for the playground
End of the Year Photo Discs
If a disc of photos did not come home with your child the last week of school, please contact and one will be sent to your home. Thanks!
Parent Forum
The Parent Forum portion of our website will close on June 25th. At this time, all posts and photos will be removed and all members will be deleted. Returning families will be able to register in the fall for the new school year. Thanks for all of you participation this year!
From the Director’s Desk
A recent article in the United Kingdom publication Supporting Parenting mentions several factors that are associated with quality parent-child relationships. I would like to
share three of them with you:
1. children’s reading ability is associated with the reading environment around them and there is evidence that parental involvement with school is associated with achievement.
2. parental warmth, lack of conflict and control and monitoring appear to play an important role in developing children’s social skills.
3. the more extreme the circumstances for parents, the worse the outcomes for children
So during these “vacation” months I hope you will read alot, love alot and be at peace alot with your children! Have a wonderful summer!!
From the Church
Summer Worship Service Schedule
9:30-10:30am Nursery is available for children 2 and under. If you have been searching for a church home this would be a great time to bring your family and check it out!
Children’s Summer Bell Choir
One of the classes we did with the Virginia Museum of Fine Art this past year was an introduction to playing bells. The Preschool, PreK & K children had a wonderful time and wanted to do more. Here’s an oppportunity to do just that, as our church children’s bell choir will continue to meet during the summer every Sunday morning after the worship service 10:40-11:00am and we would love for your child/children to join us. We hope to play at the 4th of July Picnic!
4th of July Picnic
Sunday, July 4 immediately following the Worship Service. Nothing to bring, just your family! There will be plenty of hamburgers and hotdogs, homemade ice cream and cobbler!
Vacation Bible School
July 25-29 - 6:30-8:30pm. For more information visit the church website: http://www.lakeside-presbyterian.org or call the church office at (804) 266-1231.
